The City of Chetek is accepting applications until 4:00 p.m., Monday, September 14th, 2020, for a full-time Administrative Assistant/Utility Clerk. This position is responsible for providing general administrative and support services to the offices of the mayor, clerk/treasurer, public works director, and building/zoning administrator. Duties will include: receptionist & customer service responsibilities, cash handling, assisting in
annual audits, issue licenses, maintain automated utility billing system including journal entries and reports, assist with accounting & tax collections, and various other duties as assigned by Clerk/Treasurer. The candidate is expected to exercise a high degree of judgment, initiative, and discretion to complete routine office duties, and/or special assignments.
Required education and/or knowledge: high school graduation (or HSED equivalent) plus two-year technical school training in accounting or four-year job experience in a responsible accounting position. Must have a good knowledge of computer programs including but not limited to: Windows software, Google platform, accounting software, database software. Must have excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills, including both written and verbal, be able to handle a diversified workload, be highly organized, use analytical thinking skills, ability to handle stressful situations with patience and tact when dealing with customer complaints.
